How the Anchorage project got started:
Modeled after a program in North Carolina (Paws4Purpose) 907chip is designed to help bring lost and found dogs and cats home to their families more efficiently.
Six microchip scanning stations will be installed in Anchorage, Matsu, Girdwood and Eagle River. They will be accessible 24/7. When a samaritan finds a stray dog or cat, you can always visit your veterinarian, Pet Emergency or Midnight Sun Animal Hospital (both are in Anchorage) for a quick scan. My hope is that, by adding hands-on stations, it will be helpful to have more resources. So, I’m constructing and installing ‘do it yourself’ stations in Southcentral Alaska. A sample is shown below with my lovely Iris.
I’ve hosted mini portrait sessions to raise funds for the project. And, amazing donations from Flying Dutchman Bakery (Abbott Road) and Anchorage Pet Travel Certificates will go a long ways toward making this project a reality.
Three stations are now available for use:
Anchorage Veterinary and Urgent Care (Toloff and 88th Avenue)
Ulu Factory (Downtown/port)
Alyeska Trainer’s Club (International Airport Road)
